From junkies to casual users, nobody likes tainted drugs. When you end up with atropine-laced coke or smack contaminated with fentanyl, you just feel cheated. Or possibly dead. And if ethanol is your drug of choice, the same truth applies. Grain, grapes and hops, like any other crops, can be exposed to insecticides, herbicides, fungicides, miticides and chemical fertilizers, residues of which might end up in your wine or pint glass. If you don't relish the thought of poison in your, uh, poison, considering switching to organic alcohol. The Ginger Man would be happy to be your hookup at their organic beer and wine tasting at 2 p.m. Saturday, which features a select group of brews—including Deschutes Green Lakes Organic Ale (made with Salmon-Safe hops), Pinkus Organic Alt, Bière de Miel, Sam Smith Organic Ale and Schneider Edel-Weiss—and Frei Brothers wines.
